FAQ

Common Questions

If your question isn’t answered here, message Dr Dilini directly on WhatsApp and ask.

What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is a traditional system of medicine from India and Sri Lanka that looks at health through your individual constitution and daily habits, rather than treating symptoms in isolation.

Do I need a referral to see Dr Dilini?

No. You can book directly, without a referral from a GP or anyone else.

How do I book an appointment?

Through WhatsApp only. Message Dr Dilini, describe what’s going on, and she’ll reply personally with a time. She doesn’t take phone calls or walk-ins, since she reads and answers every message herself.

Where is the clinic?

Dr Dilini runs a private home clinic in Lower Hutt, within the greater Wellington region. The exact address is shared once your appointment is confirmed.

Do you offer online or video consultations?

Consultations are currently held in person at the home clinic. If you’d like to ask about other options, message Dr Dilini directly on WhatsApp.

Will I always see Dr Dilini, or a different practitioner?

Always Dr Dilini. There’s no roster and no other practitioners on staff.

Is Ayurveda safe alongside medication I'm already taking?

Tell Dr Dilini what you’re currently taking and who else you’re seeing. Her public health qualification is specifically about working safely alongside conventional healthcare, not instead of it.

Is this a replacement for medical diagnosis or treatment?

No. Consultations with Dr Dilini are intended to support your overall health and wellbeing, not replace diagnosis or treatment from your GP or another qualified healthcare professional. If you have severe, persistent, or urgent symptoms, please seek appropriate medical care.

What conditions does Dr Dilini see?

A wide range, most commonly the ones listed on the Treatments page: sciatica, back pain, frozen shoulder, skin conditions, hair and scalp issues, sinusitis, headaches and migraine, allergic rhinitis, and respiratory or phlegm-related issues. If you’re not sure yours fits, just ask.

What might I be recommended after a consultation?

It varies by person, but recommendations might include dietary changes, herbal support, or oil-based therapies, depending on what fits your life and circumstances.

How much does a consultation cost?

Message Dr Dilini on WhatsApp for current consultation fees and available times.

Is this covered by insurance?

Ask Dr Dilini directly when you book, and check with your provider, since coverage for Ayurvedic consultations varies.
